Ford have had a busy 2016. We have seen the launched of the Ford Focus RS to overwhelming praise. The Ford Mustang truly took to the road in popular style end of 2015-early 2016. And next year, we will see the launch of the new Ford Fiesta model, replacing the current praise ridden edition. Now that we are approaching the end of 2016, Ford have also granted us two more additions: Updated Ford Kuga and the Ford KA+.
This new Ford Kuga will come first and who knows you may enjoy it so much, you may consider getting one of many car lease deals for it.
The Ford Kuga
The Ford Kuga is a mid-size SUV that has been on sale since 2012. This year, it is receiving a new facelift and an updated engine.
With the updated model, this Kuga offers you a new 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine. This one comes with 118 bhp, which it puts down on the road through its front-wheel drive system. It delivers a combined fuel economy of 64 mpg. Now because it only comes in front-wheel drive and has short gears, it keeps its emissions to a minimum meaning it only has a road tax of £30. There is also a 118 bhp ecoboost petrol engine to match.
With regards to petrol engines, there is also a 148 bhp model and a 180 bhp model. The former engine is mated with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a duel-clutch PowerShift automatic. The 180 bhp engine is only paired with the automatic gearbox.
The best engine for the new Kuga is one of the two 2.0-litre four-cylinder TDCi engines. It can come in the tune of 148 bhp or 178 bhp. They are available to buy through a car finance agreement now.
Inside this upgraded SUV, you discover a well-designed interior that is a vast improvement over the model it replaces. Ford have given it a new 8-inch touchscreen that deals with most of the cars systems.
This makes it far easier for you the driver to control the infotainment system when you are parked up, but shouldn’t be used when driving as you have to take your eyes off the road. Its functionality is very similar to your smartphone (that you also shouldn’t be using when driving). You can pinch and swipe and choose the large coloured icons so you can understand how it might distract you when driving.
The rest of the dashboard is made from high quality materials and it even comes with a new steering wheel. The steering wheel can have optional heating installed for those freezing winter months, which is a definite positive to consider.
When it comes to an SUV, you are likely looking for passenger or storage space. Passengers will be very comfortable in the Kuga. It has tonnes of space in the front and back, even for tall, six-footers. If you are the passenger lucky enough to sit in the front, you and the driver get to adjust your chairs to what suits you. Dependent upon the model you choose, you get a comfortable standard seat or you get a sportier seat with extra bolstering for additional support.
Head into the boot and the you will find 456-litres of boot capacity. Excellent for family holidays. You can fit the entire family in the car with all their luggage for those long holiday drives. However, if you need additional storage space and don’t require passengers, then you simply drop those back seats. That increases your boot capacity to 1,603-litres of space.
Ford Kuga was originally seen as a decent drive for a family car. With this new updated model, those elements have been improved upon. The steering is responsive and direct, allowing you to place the car wherever you wish to on the road, similarly to the Ford Fiesta. It does have some body roll as is expected with a high-sided SUV, however it has excellent body control overall.
If you choose to go for the sports model, the ST-Line model. You will find a lower and stiffer suspension giving you more control in the corners. This car also comes with a front-wheel drive system, but also the natural SUV four-wheel system that allows you to take it off-road if you fancy it.
Ford have done a great job with this upgraded Ford Kuga. You are getting an all-purpose SUV that is great for comfort, practicality, off-roading and great for families. It is available through PCP car finance deals that allow you to pay cheap monthly payments and own the car at the end. Not a bad way to get such a good car.
